Available 2018 Scholarships

BNY MELLON SCHOLARSHIP FOR SOCIAL IMPACT

The BNY Mellon Scholarship for Social Impact will identify and support early-stage startups that are developing new and innovative solutions to critical social problems. This scholarship is open to any MassChallenge startup that is either a registered 501 c(3) non-profit or a for-profit enterprise driven by a social mission.

BNY Mellon welcomes all social impact startups to apply, especially those that fall within the following pillars or related program areas:

  • Economic Empowerment
  • Long-term economic development + sustainability in under-served communities
  • Socially responsible entrepreneurship
  • Technology & Digital Capacity Building
  • STEM Education for Girls
  • Pathways to tech careers for youth through education
  • Women in technology initiatives
  • Digital and financial literacy

There are up to four scholarships available at $5,000 each. 

CYDAN DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR RARE DISEASES

Cydan’s Scholarship for Rare Diseases, Therapeutics and Devices will identify and support startups that are working to improve the quality of life for patients with orphan diseases and accelerate diagnosis of rare disease. Scholarship funding will be awarded to five startups whose groundbreaking ideas provide novel solutions for patients.

EYP SCHOLARSHIP FOR DESIGN INNOVATION

The EYP Scholarship for Design Innovation will identify and support startups that inspire creativity and problem-solving through design. Scholarship funding will be awarded to the startup or startups that focus on solutions to challenges that impact architecture, engineering, product design, and urban design. The successful applicants will demonstrate unique approaches to design, technology, and the arts as a means to improve the quality of human experience in the built environment.

There is one scholarship available for $5,000. 

MICROSOFT SCHOLARSHIP FOR CIVIC INNOVATION

The Microsoft Scholarship for Civic Innovation will identify and support startups that help public officials deliver improved services to private citizens and enhance government effectiveness. Scholarship funding will be awarded to the startup or startups whose solutions foster compelling engagement and transparency between government and constituents.

MASSCEC SCHOLARSHIP FOR CLEAN ENERGY & WATER INNOVATION

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Scholarship will identify and support startups in Massachusetts that are developing and commercializing technologies that that address the most pervasive energy challenges and specific climate issues facing Massachusetts. Scholarship funding will be awarded to the startup or startups with the most promising innovative technologies based on the potential global market opportunity, clean energy and climate impact.

Prioritized technologies include energy storage, microgrids, clean grid edge technologies, clean transportation and offshore wind.
