ABOUT THE PRIZE

Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and MassChallenge Switzerland are pleased to present the LDC Impact Prize 2026 (formerly the LDC Climate Resilience Prize) - an unconditional and non-dilutive CHF 100,000 cash prize supporting startups and scaleups working to find innovative solutions to critical challenges in food and agricultural supply chains.

As a leading global merchant and processor of agricultural goods, LDC’s vision is to work toward a safe and sustainable future, contributing to the global effort to provide sustenance for a growing population. As a strategic partner to MassChallenge Switzerland, LDC is looking to connect with companies with whom it can add value as a cornerstone supplier, customer or partner.

MassChallenge Switzerland is facilitating meaningful connections between LDC and selected startups and scaleups, with the goal of finding innovative solutions to critical challenges in food and agricultural supply chains.

This year’s prize will focus on 2 categories:

  • Climate Resilience
  • The Future of Manufacturing and Industry

In line with these areas, the LDC Impact Prize will be awarded to the startups with the greatestpotential impact onfood and agriculturevalue chains and biggest, scalable opportunity with LDC.

The two winners will be announced on stage at the MassChallenge Switzerland Awards on October 29, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“We look forward to continued collaboration with MassChallenge Switzerland, supporting visionary startups whose ideas and solutions have the highest potential to drive meaningful and long-term impact across food and agricultural supply chains, in relation to both climate resilience and production capabilities. We look forward to engaging with more innovative entrepreneurs who share a common purpose with LDC: creating fair and sustainable value, for the benefit of current and future generations.”  Michael Gelchie, Louis Dreyfus Company's Chief Executive Officer.

BENEFITS FOR SELECTED STARTUPS

  • Two winners will share a no-strings-attached, non-dilutive cash prize of CHF 100,000, in addition to any cash prizes they might win through MassChallenge Switzerland’s accelerator program.
  • Startups will participate in workshops and receive resources & coaching to help them propose a proof of concept or pilot to LDC and quantify their solution.
  • Startups will connect and collaborate with investors looking to positively impact food and agricultural value chains, including a direct connection to LDC decision-makers and, if relevant and desired, potential discussions about scaling their solution.
  • Startups will benefit from publicity at the final judging event in Lausanne, Switzerland, at the MassChallenge Switzerland Awards Ceremony attended by over 400 people, and through various related communications.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Overall, we are looking forproven solutions or technologies in the areas of:

LDC Prize 2026 V3

Startups & scaleups should have the following characteristics:

  1. Series B to C+ funding stage: we encourage late-stage startups and scaleups to apply. What’s important is the characteristics above.
  2. Strategic fit with LDC business lines and activities: startups must demonstrate strong strategic fit with LDC activities, crops, supply chains, or assets.
  3. Viable business model: startups must be able to demonstrate a strong business model, and commercial traction. For example: data showing sales to consumers, manufacturers or farmers, or the size of their supply base (i.e. farmers), or their business model.
  4. Articulate clear business benefits for LDC: for example, impact on revenue, loss avoidance, yield/stability, margin creation or improved operations. Startups accepted will receive guidance and coaching on how to do this.
  5. Capability to demonstrate value creation via a PoC/pilot: startups must propose a concrete, feasible PoC aligned with LDC priority use cases, demonstrating sufficient technical readiness, scalability from PoC to industrial level, and compliance (or a clear pathway) with regulatory, certification and food safety requirements. For sustainability solutions, startups must also be able to credibly quantify impact, supported by access to MC’s impact calculator and expert guidance. Startups accepted will receive guidance and coaching on how to do this, including access to MC’s impact calculator to quantify their impact.
